Hi Dennis !
I've just returned home from hosting another
Acoustic Night at Frederick Cellars (www.frederickcellars.com).
I had my good friend, and Martin player, John Durant, play five or six
songs with my Black Pearl. He was enchanted by it, mentioning three or
four times how wonderful it sounded, and how easily it plays. I have to
tell you that whenever I perform with my Black Pearl, at least two or
three folks mention how good it sounds.
Many thanks for building such a fine instrument.

Dennis- Use this at your discretion.
"I
play both acoustic and electric in a local band that gigs out at least
40 times a year. Though my Gibson SG and Epiphone acoustic-
electric are not top of the line instruments, Dennis has crafted them
to perform beautifully.
After having several hacks have a go at my guitars, I
feel very fortunate to have met Mr. Macpherson. He is a true craftsman
in every sense of the word; infinitely fair and a gentleman to boot.
My partner and I refer to him as "The Guru" and I can't give him a
stronger endorsement.

Re:
Guitar tech in New Jersey?
Another endorsement for Dennis MacPherson of Ringwood, NJ.
I recently brought him my 000-28VS for a set-up and am very happy with the
results. Prior to set-up, medium gauge strings seemed to overwhelm the
guitar at times and felt rather stiff. Post set-up, I find mediums are now
actually easier to play than most light sets were beforehand.
Dennis was very easy to work & communicate with

Guitar
tech in New Jersey?
I
searched but found nothing so I thought I'd ask you all.
I have a new archtop guitar (not a Martin) that needs a setup,
specifically the frets being leveled.. at least I think that's what it
needs. It's a 16" archtop with a floating pickup. Does anyone know someone
I can trust in Jersey to do this? I'm in central Jersey so that'd be ideal
but if not then other places would be fine.
Thanks for any input!
-Paul

Re:

There is a first-rate luthier in Ringwood New Jersey named Dennis
MacPherson. He builds guitars under the name "Black Pearl" because another
MacPherson (also a pretty good luthier) beat him into "the market" using
that name. I know of several Black Pearl guitars owned by forum members
and they will tell you that Dennis is first-rate.
I'll tell you likewise: He worked on an old 0-17T for me and it came up
roses all around. Check him out here:
